Skin Care

We all want to maintain that fresh, glowing face we first saw in the mirror as youths. Collagen injections may be one way to rejuvenate sun-damaged or aging skin.

Your skin contains multiple layers. Just below the outer layer (epidermis) is the second layer, called the dermis. This layer has blood vessels, nerves and hair follicles, but it's mostly made up of a protein called collagen. Collagen is a key support structure in your skin with its network of fibers that provides a framework for the growth of cells and blood vessels. Collagen also is found in cartilage, teeth and bones.

Medical science has harnessed the value of this natural protein and surgeons now use a variety of collagen fillers to ease the signs of aging, fill scars and add volume to enhance the appearance of your face. Collagen fillers were the first type of dermal fillers on the market to be used in aesthetic procedures. One of the most popular treatments is collagen lip injections.

Although tissue augmentation is a quick, in-office procedure that can produce a marked improvement in restoring facial fullness and a more youthful appearance, effective and safe use requires a physician with specialized training and a thorough understanding of facial anatomy to recommend and inject an appropriate filler.

Choosing a plastic surgeon to treat your face with injectable fillers means that your treatment will be performed by someone who not only has training in injection therapy, but in all types of non-surgical and surgical facial rejuvenation.

Injections

Botox © Cosmetic is an FDA approved treatment for moderate to severe frown lines between the brows. In the hands of a board certified plastic surgeon, Botox can be safely injected into many areas on the face to improve dynamic facial wrinkling. After the injections, you will notice improvement in these lines within days and the results can last up to 3-4 months.

Restylane is a type of hyaluronic acid-based dermal filler. Like other hyaluronic dermal fillers, Restylane is free from animal proteins which eliminate risks of allergic reactions. Restylane is most commonly used to improve facial wrinkles and folds including nasolabial folds.

Instead of making you feel like your face is frozen, Dysport temporarily treats the facial muscles in just the area you want — between the eyebrows — and allows the muscles in the untreated areas of your face to move normally. Delight, surprise, shock, concern — you can still show your natural facial expressions when treating moderate to severe frown lines with Dysport. And that's certainly something to smile about.

The lips and the lines around the mouth, like other areas of the face, show signs of aging as you get older. This often results in lip thinning, lost shape and an increase in vertical lines above the lip. Restylane Silk is designed specifically to provide natural-looking results in these particular areas by using smaller, smoother particles than those used in other Restylane® products.

Over time, the natural fat that surrounds the cheeks begins to deteriorate, resulting in sagging skin, more prominent wrinkles and a reduction of volume. Through nonsurgical injections, Restylane Lyft is specifically designed to add fullness to the cheeks and midface area, which can result in a more natural-looking, youthful appearance.
